Alumnae

Delta Gamma hopes to maintain a friendly and close relationship with its alumnae. Throughout the year, the Beta Eta chapter hosts various enjoyable events incorporating alumnae, their families, and current Beta Eta members.

Beta Eta’s most important alumnae event is Founders Day, held in the spring of every school year. The current Beta Eta chapter, its alumnae, and Austin DG alums are welcome to the Delta Gamma house to celebrate the 1873 founding of Delta Gamma. A presentation to honor alumnae, a “Through the Decades” slideshow of Beta Eta members, and time in fellowship with Beta Eta sisters makes Founders Day one of Beta Eta’s most meaningful events. Tracing our history back to the three original women, Anna Boyd Ellington, Eva Webb Dodd and Mary Comfort Leonard, we celebrate the fortunate snowstorm of 1873 in Oxford, Mississippi, at the Lewis School for Girls that began the now almost 140 year old organization.

Along with Founders Day, Beta Eta hosts an Alumnae Easter Egg Hunt, Babysitting Date Night, and other familial events. The alumnae Easter Egg Hunt is a festive occasion usually held the Saturday before Easter. All alumnae are invited to bring their kids for a fun egg-hunting adventure! The Babysitting Date night occurs twice a year, offering Beta Eta alumnae a relaxing and pleasant night away from the stressors of home.

For all Delta Gamma Alumnae that would like to stay in contact with the Beta Eta Chapter at The University of Texas, please email our Director of Alumnae Relations, Anne Freer.
